What to do around Honfleur?


Not far from Honfleur, some typical and charming Norman towns and villages to visit:

Villerville and its beach (9 km), Beuzeville and its Romanesque church (14 km) Pont-l'Evêque its old quarter and its racing circuit, (16 km), Cambremer and its gardens (39 km), Pont-Audemer and its old streets on the water (23 km), Dives sur Mer and its old market (35 km), Lisieux its basilica and its beautiful walk along the Touques (33 km).

Deauville and Trouville-sur-Mer

Two charming towns 15 km by car from Honfleur. There are also regular bus connections.

Deauville , a very upscale luxury seaside resort since the 1920s and which has acquired international fame thanks to its American Film Festival (every year in September).

Everything is chic in Deauville: its casino, its theater, its golf course, its horse races, its beach, its new marina, its shops. Essential walk on the sea side:the famous boardwalk. With the authentic Art Deco charm of its Sea Baths and its mythical bathing cabins, dedicated to American stars invited to the seaside resort. Many cultural activities are organized in Deauville, all year round.

On the other side of the Touques, crossing the Pont des Belges or crossing on a small shuttle boat, the charming little fishing port is Trouville-sur-Mer . Family-friendly and peaceful seaside resort, very popular with Parisians lacking iodine. Its old streets, its literary past and its beautiful residences from another time make its success as well as its beach and its many small restaurants. Its superb fish market, with its oyster bars, attract people as well as its Wednesday and Sunday markets. Water sports are king on the sea side: outdoor swimming pool with 50 m pool, sailing courses, windsurfing boards, paddle boards or kayaking. Tonic kayaking trips are organized along the cliffs, for the more athletic.

Le Havre

23 km from Honfleur, crossing the Normandy bridge, the city of Le Havre is worth a detour. Many sites to visit including the Saint-Joseph church and its impressive 110-meter-high tower, the model apartment of Auguste Perret for lovers of true vintage, the André Malraux museum of modern art for its remarkable architecture, its collection of impressionist works and its tea room with a view. Charming walks: the hanging gardens located in an old fort with superb vegetation and magnificent views of the city, the beach of Sainte-Adresse at the end of the beach of Le Havre, the port of Le Havre one of the largest commercial ports in Europe (exciting audio guided tours). You have to climb to the top of the city with its cable car to admire the panoramic view, count the tankers on the horizon and descend by the winding stairs to admire the beautiful hidden houses of Le Havre. For relaxation: Les Bains des Docks, a superb and modern large aquatic area with ponds, swimming pools, sauna, hammam and balneotherapy area.

Not very far from Le Havre :Etretat, its cliffs and gardens (28 km), Fécamp, its fishing museum and its Benedictine palace (42 km).
